been associated with comfort and healing. Since the time of David, stories have described music's gift to soothe the body and lift the spirit. During my years as a symphonic harpist and musician performing in hospitals and emergency shelters, I have asked listeners what music makes them feel better. Their choices include classical melodies, ancient hymns and spirituals, and even a child's song about a better world "over the rainbow."

I offer these selections to all seeking a moment of hope and reflection, especially to those on the healing journey and to those who cheer them on.
